Group 2.
Dating 17th. century. Highly accomplished art and the use of a course kempy low land wool with vertical and horizontal format, the latter having a lower panel.

Two horses flanking Lotus growing from water full of spring vitality and abundant fertility. The first felt in our sequence to have the horizontal aspect enforced by the addition of a lower border which is common among the later pieces, this too has the use of a different low land wool as do the four following felts.


Ming fragment of the lower section with fallen Phoenix the male bird has a curly tail feather.


Drawn with Lian or Lotus design. This felt is made with lowland wooll Late Ming.

Prunus and Magpies

Prunus and Magpies on a reserved white ground drawn in a late Ming style. The "plumb blossom" design of a highly evolved nature was probably borrowed from ceramic art. There is a butterfly in the top left.
