Ming carpet fragment with a lotus design from Qing-hai? Province, related to the Hermann Collection's famous Lotus Meander Rug dated to 1426-1435. Lotuses do not have curly foliage like what we see. The scrolling device is derived from the male phoenix's tale feathers. This design was used until the end of the Kangxia period
